This blog hosts information concerning the congress on the History of Documents, Archives, and Information (HDAI). How texts and information were generated, transmitted, disseminated and preserved in the past. The mentioned congress aims to study the history of the archives and their documentary collections from very different points of view. However, it also aims to analyze various aspects of other texts and documents -whether or not they were archived- ranging from the creation of a document, its use, generation and preservation, to the transmission of memory, the dissemination of the information, as it was not found or disseminated only through writing texts. Information and memory did not remain exclusively in the archive, nor were they transmitted only through the written medium, nor were they merely something static that lay materialized as powdered documents in a chest. It should also be remembered that outside the archival funds there was numerous scattered documents (a good example of all would be a cry or proclamation). Studying all that set, in which many data dialogue and complement each other, will shed light on another vision that will further detail the social role played by using, transmitting, preserving and disseminating oral and written information in the past.

Este blog nace para albergar datos concernientes al congreso sobre la Historia de los documentos, los archivos, y la información: cómo generaban, transmitían, difundían y conservaban textos e información en el pasado. El citado congreso tiene por objeto estudiar la historia de los archivos y de sus fondos documentales desde muy diversos puntos de vista. Sin embargo, también pretende analizar diversos aspectos de otros textos y documentos –ajenos o no al archivo– abordando desde la creación de un escrito, el uso, generación, y conservación de la documentación, hasta la transmisión de la memoria, la difusión de la información, porque ésta no se hallaba ni difundía sólo mediante soportes escriturarios. La información y la memoria no permanecían exclusivamente en el archivo, ni se transmitían sólo por el medio escrito, ni eran únicamente algo estático que yacía materializado en forma de legajos empolvados en un arca. Cabe recordar además que fuera de los fondos archivísticos existía numerosa documentación dispersa (de todo ello sería buen exponente por ejemplo un pregón). Estudiar todo aquel conjunto, en el que muchos datos dialogan y se complementen, alumbrará otra visión que detallará más el protagonismo social al usar, transmitir, conservar, y difundir la información oral o escrita en el pasado.
